The Government pledges to create favorable ways for the north central province of Thanh Hoa to set an example of attracting investment and fulfilling the preset goals.

The Government chief made the affirmation on late May 18 while attending the largest investment promotion conference in Sam Son city, Thanh Hoa province.
The event drew the attendance of former General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, Head of the Party Central Committee Commission on Organization Pham Minh Chinh, National Assembly Deputy Chairman Uong Chu Luu, around 1,200 delegates from international financial organizations, trade promotion agencies, enterprises, and domestic and foreign investors.
Absorbing US$ 6 billion investment
PM Phuc assessed that Thanh Hoa is a province with dynamic economic growth and potential destination for investors. The locality also boasts smart, hard-working, and creative people. The Government leader was convinced that the improvement of labor quality would churn out a contingent of good laborers for not only Viet Nam but also Thanh Hoa province.
The PM took the occasion to urge Thanh Hoa to become a model of investment attraction; better the investment environment via offering low land lease fees and fast-processed administrative procedures.
On this occasion, 32 investment licenses were granted with a total registered investment value of VND 135,300 billion (or US$ 6 billion).
Opening up opportunities
The Government chief suggested the province attach importance to land allocation in a scientific and effective manner; cut land costs for investors and enterprises.
PM Phuc asserted that the Government would offer opportunities for Thanh Hoa to become a pioneer in accomplishing national goals and visions.
Mr. Phuc also noted the importance of ensuring a fair business environment for enterprises.
Local administrations were urged to be active in attracting investment; beefing up industries, especially oil refinery, petro chemistry, aquatic processing, tourism, and high-tech farming.
The province was asked to develop talented manpower and take care of the environment while growing the local economy.
In the short term, the Government would spare no effort to support Thanh Hoa by early finalizing the construction process of Ha Noi-Thanh Hoa-Nghe An highway, convert Sao Vang airport into an international one; upgrade Nghi Son deep-water port to receive 70,000-100,000 ton-vessels; and build a 100km-long coastal road in favor of natural disaster prevention.
